Trust Bank PLC has been recognised with the ‘Top Ten Remittance Award 2026’ at the opening ceremony of the World Conference Series 2026 (WCS 2026), held under the theme “Branding Bangladesh Beyond Bangladesh”. The event was organised by the Center for NRB and took place at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on 12 April 2026, according to a press release.
The award was formally received on behalf of the bank by Md. Kamal Hossain Sarker, Deputy Managing Director and Head of the Islamic Banking Division. The recognition places Trust Bank among the leading financial institutions contributing to the facilitation and growth of remittance inflows to Bangladesh.
The programme was presided over by M. S. Sekil Chowdhury, Chairman of the organising body. The chief guest at the ceremony was Zahir Uddin Swapan, Minister of Information and Broadcasting. Special guests included Shama Obaed, State Minister for Foreign Affairs; Nurul Haque Nur, State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment; and Fazle Elahi Akbar, former Force Commander of United Nations Peacekeeping Forces.
The ceremony brought together a wide range of participants, including representatives from the banking sector, corporate leaders, and professionals from various industries. The presence of policymakers and sector specialists highlighted the importance of remittance flows to Bangladesh’s economic stability and development.
Remittances remain a significant source of foreign exchange earnings for the country, and financial institutions play a central role in ensuring efficient, secure, and accessible transfer channels for expatriate workers. Awards such as the Top Ten Remittance Award are intended to acknowledge institutions that demonstrate consistent performance and service delivery in this sector.
While the press release did not provide comparative figures or detailed criteria for the award selection, the recognition reflects Trust Bank PLC’s standing within the competitive remittance services market. The event also served as a platform for broader discussions on strengthening Bangladesh’s global economic presence and enhancing engagement with the non-resident Bangladeshi community.
