Southeast Bank Re-elects Rehana Rahman as Vice Chairperson

Rehana Rahman has been re-elected as Vice Chairperson of Southeast Bank PLC, following a unanimous decision during the bank’s 777th board meeting on 29 October.

A prominent female entrepreneur in Bangladesh, Rahman serves as the Managing Director of Bengal Tradeways Ltd. Alongside her position at Southeast Bank, she is also a director at CHB Building Technologies Ltd and the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries.

Rahman is an influential figure in both the business and sociocultural landscapes. She is a founding life member and former chairperson of North South University, a member of the United Nations Association of Bangladesh (UNAB), and the President of the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh (WEAB).

Additionally, she holds memberships in several prestigious clubs, including the Gulshan Club, Banani Club, Boat Club, Purbachal Club, Baridhara Diplomatic Enclave Club, and the Bangladesh-India Friendship Club.

Born in Khulna, Rahman completed her BA (Honours) in Economics. Her father, the late Abdul Wazed Khan Chowdhury, was the vice principal of Dhaka Teachers Training College, and she was married to the late M. Masihur Rahman, a renowned businessman in Bangladesh.

In recognition of her contributions to women’s empowerment and female education, Rahman received the Begum Rokeya Shining Personality Award in 2008 and the Most Dynamic Women Entrepreneur Award in 2009.
