On the final day for digital bank applications, AKIJ Resource Limited has submitted a proposal to Bangladesh Bank to establish a digital bank named “Munafa Islamic Digital Bank PLC.”
The application was formally submitted to the Banking Regulation and Policy Department (BRPD) of the central bank on 2 November by Engr Md Firoz Kabir, Chief Digital and Innovation Officer of AKIJ Resource.
With this initiative, AKIJ Resource aims to revolutionise digital banking in Bangladesh, combining cutting-edge technology with a strong focus on increasing financial accessibility and empowerment for the people. “A digital bank will be a platform where every person, every dream, and every possibility are connected through technology. Our vision is to build a Bangladesh where financial services are accessible to all, not limited to a few,” said Engr Md Firoz Kabir.
Sheikh Jasim Uddin, Chairman and Managing Director of AKIJ Resource Group, expressed confidence that the project would promote financial inclusion, foster innovation, and drive technology-enabled banking in the country. He further highlighted that AKIJ Resource‘s involvement would play a significant role in Bangladesh’s economic development and contribute to its inclusive growth.
