Akij Resources Applies for Digital Bank License in Bangladesh

Akij Resources Limited has officially applied to Bangladesh Bank to establish a digital bank under the name Munafa Islamic Digital Bank PLC. The application was submitted yesterday, Sunday, by the company’s Chief Digital and Innovation Officer, Mohammad Firoz Kabir, to the Banking Regulations and Policy Division of Bangladesh Bank.

According to a statement released by the company, Akij Resources aims to usher in a new era of digital banking in Bangladesh’s financial sector. The company envisions a platform where banking is not just about technology, but about empowering people with financial rights. Firoz Kabir expressed that the digital bank would create a space where every individual, every dream, and every opportunity is connected through technology. “We aspire to build a Bangladesh where financial services are accessible to all, not just a select few,” he stated.

Sheikh Jasim Uddin, head of the Akij Resources Group, believes that this project will elevate financial inclusion, innovation, and technology-driven banking to new heights. He also expressed hope that Akij Resources, as a reputable institution, will play a pivotal role in driving the economic development of the country’s people through this initiative.
