Dhaka Bank PLC has recently inaugurated a dedicated collection booth at its zonal office to facilitate the payment of holding tax and trade licence fees for residents and business owners under the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). The booth was jointly launched by Sheikh Abdul Bakir, Deputy Managing Director of Dhaka Bank PLC, and Akther Unnisa Shiuly, Zonal Executive Officer for Zones 8-10 under DSCC, as announced in a press release.
From now on, residents and business owners in DSCC Zones 6-10 can conveniently pay their holding tax and trade licence fees in person at the newly established collection booth.
In addition to in-person payments, holding taxes and trade licence fees for DSCC can also be paid in real-time from any branch of Dhaka Bank.
Since January 2025, the bank has also enabled DSCC residents to make these payments online through the Dhaka Bank mobile app and internet banking.
Earlier this year, Dhaka Bank opened its first collection booth for DSCC holding tax and trade licence fee payments at Nagar Bhaban on 2 July.
The newly inaugurated booth was officially launched through a joint effort between Dhaka Bank and DSCC authorities. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sheikh Abdul Bakir, Deputy Managing Director of Dhaka Bank PLC, and Akther Unnisa Shiuly, Zonal Executive Officer for DSCC Zones 8 to 10. Their presence highlighted the importance of collaboration between financial institutions and local government bodies in improving citizen services.
With the launch of this collection booth, residents and business owners from DSCC Zones 6 to 10 can now directly pay their holding tax and trade licence fees in person at the zonal office. This move significantly reduces the need to visit Nagar Bhaban or multiple government offices, saving valuable time and effort for taxpayers. The booth has been designed to provide a faster, more organized, and transparent payment experience.
In addition to in-person payments at the zonal booth, Dhaka Bank has ensured that holding tax and trade licence fees can be paid in real time from any branch of the bank across the country. This flexibility allows taxpayers who may not reside permanently in Dhaka to fulfill their obligations without physical constraints.
Taking digital transformation even further, Dhaka Bank enabled online payment facilities for DSCC taxes starting January 2025. Through the Dhaka Bank mobile app and internet banking platform, residents can now complete tax payments from their homes or offices. This digital solution not only improves convenience but also enhances transaction security and record keeping.
Earlier in July, Dhaka Bank opened its first DSCC tax collection booth at Nagar Bhaban. The success and positive response from that initiative encouraged the bank to expand the service to zonal offices, bringing tax services closer to local communities.
This initiative reflects a growing trend in Bangladesh’s banking sector to support public service delivery. By integrating banking infrastructure with municipal revenue collection, Dhaka Bank is playing a proactive role in modernizing urban governance. Both bank officials and city corporation representatives believe that this model will increase tax compliance, reduce administrative pressure, and improve overall service satisfaction for citizens.
