Mercantile Bank PLC recently held its “Risk Conference 2025” at its head office in Dhaka. The event was inaugurated by Md Sirajul Islam, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, who attended as the chief guest.
The conference was also graced by Md Anwarul Haq, Chairman of Mercantile Bank PLC, and Mohammad Abdul Awal, Chairman of the bank’s Risk Management Committee, who participated as guests of honour.
Mati Ul Hasan, Managing Director of Mercantile Bank, and ANM Moinul Kabir, Director of the Department of Off-Site Supervision (DOS) at Bangladesh Bank, delivered speeches as special guests.
Among the distinguished attendees were MA Khan Belal, Chairman of the Executive Committee; Prof Md Rezaul Kabir, Chairman of the Audit Committee; ASM Feroz Alam, M Amanullah, and Mohammad Thoufiqul Islam, Independent Director. The event also saw the participation of senior officials, including Md Zakir Hossain, Deputy Managing Director and Acting Chief Risk Officer, and Shamim Ahmed, Executive Vice President and Deputy Chief Risk Officer.
The conference featured insightful sessions conducted by Surabhi Ghosh and Nazmin Nahar, Additional Director and Joint Director at Bangladesh Bank’s DOS, respectively.
A wide range of other senior executives from Mercantile Bank, including Tapash Chandra Paul, Chief Financial Officer, and Shah Md Sohel Khurshid, Senior Executive Vice President, were also present.
The event aimed to enhance understanding of risk management practices in the banking sector, fostering a safer and more resilient financial environment.
