Islami Bank Urges Service Excellence Drive

Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening public confidence and enhancing customer satisfaction, as senior leadership addressed an employee conference covering three zones and five corporate branches in Dhaka. The conference was held on Saturday, 31 January 2026, at Senaprangan in Dhaka Cantonment and brought together a wide cross-section of the bank’s management and operational staff.

Speaking as Chief Guest, Professor Dr. M. Zubaidur Rahman, Chairman of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, emphasised that the institution’s long-term strength rests on public trust and customer confidence. He noted that clients are the lifeblood of the bank and that ensuring their satisfaction must remain the organisation’s foremost priority. All customer-related problems, he said, should be resolved promptly through improved service standards and a proactive mindset. Any complaint raised by a customer must be taken seriously and addressed without delay. Dr. Rahman added that when employees regard the institution as their own, both the quality of service and the speed of operations improve significantly.

The conference was presided over by Md. Omar Faruk Khan, Managing Director of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. Several members of the bank’s board and key committees attended as special guests, including Mohammad Khurshid Wahab, Chairman of the Executive Committee; Md. Abdus Salam, FCA, FCS, Chairman of the Audit Committee; Professor Dr. M. Masud Rahman, Chairman of the Risk Management Committee; and Md. Abdul Jalil, Independent Director.

Md. Altaf Hossain, Additional Managing Director, delivered the welcome address, while Md. Mahboob Alam, Deputy Managing Director, gave the vote of thanks. Additional Managing Directors Engr. Mohammad Jamal Uddin Mazumder and Dr. M. Kamal Uddin Jasim were also present, alongside senior executives, heads of the three zones, and employees from the participating corporate branches.

In his address, Managing Director Md. Omar Faruk Khan highlighted the strategic importance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in strengthening Bangladesh’s economic base. He stated that there is no viable alternative to expanding investment in SMEs if sustainable economic growth is to be achieved. He urged bank officials to further widen SME financing, simplify access to banking services for ordinary people, and ensure consistently high standards of customer service across all branches.

The conference served as a platform to align employees with the bank’s service-oriented vision, reinforce ethical and professional responsibilities, and encourage a culture of accountability and responsiveness in day-to-day banking operations.
