Prime Bank PLC, in collaboration with the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and its Career Club, recently hosted a seminar entitled “Financial Inclusion: Engaging & Inspiring Youth in Banking” under its flagship PrimeAcademia initiative, according to an official press release. The event aimed to foster financial literacy, innovation, and leadership among the next generation of professionals.
The keynote address was delivered by M. Nazeem A. Choudhury, Deputy Managing Director and Head of the Consumer & SME Banking Division at Prime Bank PLC. He highlighted the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI), data-driven decision-making, and technological innovation in the modern banking landscape. Choudhury urged students to prepare for careers that combine technology, creativity, and social purpose to drive inclusive economic growth.
Shaila Abedin, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Liability, underscored the significance of female leadership and ethical banking practices. She encouraged young women to actively pursue leadership roles within financial institutions, emphasising the importance of values-driven decision-making in building sustainable banks.
Focusing on youth financial literacy, M. M. Mahbub Hasan, Senior Vice President and Head of Financial Inclusion & School Banking, highlighted how early exposure to structured banking education can cultivate financially responsible citizens. He stressed that understanding money management from an early stage equips young people to make informed financial decisions and assume leadership roles in the future.
Providing the academic viewpoint, Dr. Ferdous Sarwar, Professor in the Department of Industrial & Production Engineering at BUET, emphasised the need for stronger collaboration between academia and industry. He noted that bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world financial challenges is essential for producing career-ready graduates.
