In preparation for the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, selected bank branches across Bangladesh will operate on a limited basis on Thursday, 19 March, to facilitate timely salary and allowance payments for ready-made garment (RMG) workers. The arrangement follows directives from Bangladesh Bank to maintain essential banking services in industrial areas while operating with minimal staff.
Branches located in Dhaka, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj, and the RMG-intensive zones of Chattogram will remain open. Banking hours will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, with customer transactions conducted between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. A short break will be observed for Zuhr prayers.

These limited operations are designed to ensure that workers in Bangladesh’s garment sector—a vital contributor to the country’s export economy—have uninterrupted access to wages and allowances. While staffing and operations are restricted, the schedule balances essential financial access with the festive observance.
Customers are advised to plan their transactions accordingly, arriving during operational hours and accounting for the brief Zuhr prayer break.
This initiative underscores the continued commitment of Bangladesh Bank and commercial banks to support industrial workers during major festivals, combining operational flexibility with uninterrupted financial services.
