French authorities have successfully thwarted a suspected bomb attack in central Paris after police detained a man allegedly attempting to detonate an improvised explosive device outside a branch of Bank of America during the early hours of Saturday. The swift and coordinated intervention has prompted a comprehensive counter-terrorism investigation, highlighting an already heightened state of alert across Europe.

The incident took place at approximately 03:30 CET on Rue de la Boétie, situated within the capital’s affluent 8th arrondissement—an area characterised by luxury retail outlets, corporate headquarters, and diplomatic premises.
