Bangladesh Bank (BB) has restructured the boards of directors of three private commercial banks today.
The affected banks include NRB Commercial Bank, NRB Bank, and Meghna Bank, as confirmed by a senior official of the central bank, who spoke to The Daily Star.
The central bank has removed the previous boards of these banks, which were led by Parvez Tamal at NRB Commercial Bank, Mohammed Mahtabur Rahman at NRB Bank, and HN Ashequr Rahman at Meghna Bank.
New boards have now been established for these institutions. Ali Hossain Prodhania, the former managing director of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, has been appointed as the new chairman of NRB Commercial Bank.
Tarek Reaz Khan, the managing director of NRB Bank, has confirmed that he has been notified about the reconstitution of NRB Bank’s board. However, Bangladesh Bank has not yet appointed a new chairman for either NRB Bank or Meghna Bank.
