Shimanto Bank has recently entered into a significant partnership with the Force Support Wing of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at Pilkhana, Dhaka. According to an official press release, this collaboration aims to expand financial convenience and exclusive privileges for BGB personnel, reinforcing the long-standing relationship between the bank and the country’s border security force.
Under the newly signed agreement, BGB members will be entitled to an attractive 10 per cent cashback when they use their Shimanto Bank Credit Cards for monthly purchases at two key retail outlets operated for the welfare of border guards: the BGB Exclusive Super Shop and the Ontorongo Departmental Store. This facility is expected to benefit thousands of service members and their families by reducing household expenses and encouraging safer digital transactions.
The MoU was signed by Md. Sahidul Islam, Head of Business at Shimanto Bank, and Colonel Md Maruful Abedin, BGOM, Wing Commander of the Force Support Wing, representing their respective organisations. Their signatures symbolise not only a formal agreement but also a shared commitment to enhancing the financial wellbeing of BGB personnel.
The signing ceremony was attended by several senior officials, including Major S M Habib Ibne Jahan, SPP, Additional Director (MTO) of the Force Support Wing, and Sharif Zahirul Islam, Head of Cards & ADC at Shimanto Bank. Their presence highlighted the collaborative nature of the initiative and the importance placed on strengthening institutional support for those who serve the nation in safeguarding its borders.
During the event, representatives from both sides emphasised that such partnerships play a vital role in promoting financial inclusion among uniformed service personnel. By promoting electronic payments, the cashback offer is also expected to reduce cash dependency within the BGB community, contributing to greater transparency and efficiency in day-to-day transactions.
Officials from Shimanto Bank noted that the initiative is part of a broader plan to introduce tailored financial services for members of disciplined forces. These may include preferential loan rates, digital banking tools, and enhanced customer service dedicated to defence personnel.
This MoU marks yet another milestone in Shimanto Bank’s mission to provide meaningful financial advantages to those who work relentlessly to uphold national security.
