BMU Introduces Online Ticketing System to Ease Patient Crowds

Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) has launched an online ticketing system aimed at reducing patient inconvenience, managing overcrowding, and improving the efficiency of outpatient services.

Under the new system, patients no longer need to queue for long hours to obtain outpatient tickets. Instead, they can visit BMU’s website make online payments, and print their tickets. Patients will then be able to consult doctors at the designated department and time specified on their tickets.The service was formally announced on Wednesday at an event held at Shaheed Dr Milton Hall of the university. During the programme, BMU and Pubali Bank Limited signed an agreement to implement the system.Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam stated: “Healthcare is a fundamental right. We want every patient to have access to quick and convenient medical services. Long queues for tickets and hours of waiting cause unnecessary hardship for patients. The online ticketing system is a major step toward resolving this issue.”He added: “This initiative will not only reduce patient inconvenience but also make hospital management more efficient. Patients can now book tickets from home and visit the hospital at their scheduled time. This will save time and minimise waiting. While there may be some initial challenges, with everyone’s cooperation, the system can be successfully implemented.”Other speakers at the event included Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Md Abul Kalam Azad, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Development) Professor Dr Md Mujibur Rahman Howlader, Treasurer Professor Dr Nahrin Akhtar, Proctor Dr Sheikh Farhad, Director of ICT Cell Professor Dr AKM Akhtaruzzaman, and Managing Director and CEO of Pubali Bank Limited Mohammad Ali.They noted that BMU is a trusted institution in medical education, research, and healthcare services. The introduction of online ticketing marks a new milestone in patient-centred care. They added that if other hospital services are later digitised, patients will gain even easier access to tests, examinations, and consultations.
