BRAC Bank Completes Intensive CMSME Training in Sirajganj

BRAC Bank, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Bangladesh Bank, has successfully concluded a month-long intensive training programme for aspiring entrepreneurs in the cottage, micro, small, and medium enterprises (CMSMEs) sector in Sirajganj.

The initiative forms part of a broader capacity-building effort under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (SICIP), spearheaded by the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance. With technical and implementation support from Bangladesh Bank, the programme seeks to nurture the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and equip them with the managerial acumen required to succeed in today’s competitive business landscape.

The closing ceremony for the second batch of the Entrepreneurship Development Programme was held at a local hotel in Sirajganj on 4 December 2025. Certificates were formally awarded to 25 participants, marking the culmination of their rigorous month-long training.

Key dignitaries at the ceremony included:

  • Syed Abdul Momen, Additional Managing Director & Head of SME Banking, BRAC Bank – Special Guest

  • Md. Ayub Ali, Joint Director & Deputy Programme Director (DPD), SME & Special Programmes Department, Bangladesh Bank – Special Guest

  • Biplab Kumar Biswas, Head of Small Business (North), SME Banking, BRAC Bank – Presiding Officer

Senior officials from BRAC Bank’s SME division also attended, including S M Alomgir Hossain (Head of Small Business, Central & Distributor Finance), Md. Nazrul Islam (Head of Small, South, Cottage & Micro Business), and Mahbubur Rahman (Head of Small, East, Liability & Chief Bancassurance Officer).

The training featured expert resource persons from both Bangladesh Bank and BRAC Bank, offering practical guidance on entrepreneurial strategy, financial management, and business scaling. Designed to strengthen both entrepreneurial and managerial competencies, the programme empowers participants to effectively operate and expand their enterprises.

Funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and implemented by the SME and Special Programmes Department of Bangladesh Bank, the initiative demonstrates a coordinated effort between financial institutions and the government to promote grassroots entrepreneurship and stimulate local economic growth.
