Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC’s Bangladesh Operations has partnered with DHL Express Bangladesh to participate in the GoGreen Plus carbon-reduced shipping programme. This collaboration marks a significant step in the bank’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible practices.
The agreement was signed by Najith Meewanage, Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Bangladesh Operations, and Md Miarul Haque, Managing Director of DHL Express Bangladesh.
Through this partnership, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Bangladesh Operations will offset its Scope 3 emissions — those generated indirectly through logistics and transportation — by incorporating carbon-reduced shipping solutions into its document delivery process. This initiative strengthens the bank’s pledge to incorporate sustainability throughout its operations, contributing to the development of a more environmentally conscious banking ecosystem.
The collaboration also highlights the bank’s proactive approach to environmental stewardship by adopting measurable, low-emission practices within its logistics network, which aligns with its broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives. The move reaffirms the bank’s leadership in sustainable banking and its long-term vision for a greener, more responsible future.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dewan Minhaz Rahman, Assistant General Manager – International, and Maruf Iftekhar Khan, Head of Marketing & Brand Building from Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Bangladesh Operations, alongside key representatives from DHL Express Bangladesh, including ASM Shakil, Head of Commercial; Md Hayatuzzaman Khan, Head of GMNC, Commercial; and Arafat Hossain, National Customer Manager, Commercial.
