Dhaka Bank PLC, in collaboration with Mastercard, recently introduced the first-ever youth-focused dual currency prepaid card in Bangladesh, named “Spark”. The launch event was held at a hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka, marking a significant milestone for the country’s younger generation.
The Spark card is designed to cater to the digital-first, tech-savvy youth of Bangladesh. Offering a range of advanced financial features, the card also comes with premium lifestyle benefits such as discounts on travel, dining, education, fashion, and technology, both within Bangladesh and internationally. The goal is to support the dynamic, global lifestyle of young consumers, enabling them to make seamless digital payments while enjoying exclusive privileges and experiences.
Exclusive Features for Young Consumers
The Spark card boasts dual currency functionality, allowing holders to transact smoothly both at home and abroad. To further enhance its appeal, the card provides up to 5% cashback on spending in categories most popular among youth, such as online streaming platforms, food delivery services, ride-sharing apps, and visits to Star Cineplex.
In recognition of the global aspirations of young people, Spark cardholders will also receive special discounts on registration fees for major international exams like IELTS, SAT, GMAT, and TOEFL.
Event Highlights and Panel Discussion
The launch ceremony also featured a panel discussion with student representatives from seven leading private universities, focusing on the theme “Digital Inclusion for the Youth of Bangladesh.” Prominent figures such as Prof Abdur Rab (Vice Chancellor of IUBAT), Prof Saiful Islam (Vice Chancellor of AIUB), and other university leaders took part in the discussion.
Over 100 students from top institutions, including North South University (NSU), Independent University Bangladesh (IUB), and BRAC University, attended the event. Key figures from Mastercard and Dhaka Bank also graced the occasion.
