Any donation, contribution, or financial support of 50,000 Taka or more to a political party must be made through formal banking channels. In addition, the donor’s tax return must be filed, according to Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul, Advisor on Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.
He shared this information at a press briefing held on Thursday (October 23) afternoon at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in Dhaka.The law advisor stated, “Any individual providing money to a political party—whether as a donation, contribution, or other financial support—must use banking channels for amounts of 50,000 Taka or more. The donor’s tax return must also be filed.”
Dr. Nazrul further mentioned that at a meeting of the Advisory Council held on Thursday in Tejgaon under the chairmanship of Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the “Representation of the People Order–2025” was given final approval. This new provision has been included in the order.
The government expects that this decision will enhance transparency and accountability in the financing of political parties.
