IFIC Bank has taken yet another significant step towards building a financially conscious young generation by organising a comprehensive financial literacy workshop in Barisal as part of the nationwide initiative titled ‘Festival of Youth 2025’. Designed under the guidance and directives of Bangladesh Bank, the programme aims to equip students with essential banking knowledge, encourage disciplined saving habits, and introduce the fundamentals of personal financial management.
The workshop, held on 12 November at the auditorium of the University of Barisal, was arranged in collaboration with the university authorities. The event drew a vibrant participation of over 150 students, reflecting a growing interest among young learners in understanding money management, digital banking, and future financial planning.
The session was presided over by Md Asiqur Rahman, Acting Chairman of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems at the University of Barisal. Modhusudan Banik, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank’s Barisal Office, attended as the chief guest and emphasised the necessity of early financial education in an increasingly technology-driven banking landscape.
Also present as special guests were Md Imtiaz Ahmad Masum, Director of Bangladesh Bank Barisal Office, and Khandaker Anwar Ehtesham, Head of Branding, Communications and Corporate Affairs at IFIC Bank. Their presence highlighted the importance both institutions place on empowering youth with practical financial skills.
The key resource person for the workshop was Md Symum Rezwan from IFIC Bank, who delivered an engaging and practical session on financial management. He explained topics such as maintaining savings discipline, understanding bank accounts, using digital banking responsibly, and preparing for the evolving financial ecosystem shaped by emerging technologies. He also discussed vital professional development skills, encouraging students to prepare themselves for competitive job markets.
Throughout the event, students actively participated in discussions, asked questions, and shared their perspectives on financial challenges faced by today’s youth. Many expressed enthusiasm about having such useful knowledge delivered directly by banking professionals.
IFIC Bank continues to run financial literacy campaigns throughout the year, targeting both urban and rural institutions. From schools and colleges to universities, the bank’s initiatives seek to create a financially aware and responsible generation capable of making informed economic decisions. The ‘Festival of Youth 2025’ is yet another milestone in the bank’s commitment to supporting national financial inclusion and youth empowerment.
