Grameenphone Partners Prime Bank FinTech on Services

Grameenphone has entered into a strategic partnership with Prime Bank FinTech Limited to broaden access to secure, inclusive, and seamless financial services across Bangladesh. The collaboration combines Grameenphone’s nationwide connectivity and digital ecosystem with Prime Bank FinTech Limited’s Mobile Financial Services (MFS) platform, with the objective of accelerating financial inclusion and expanding digital service usage.

The agreement was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at GPHouse in Dhaka. The signing ceremony was attended by Yasir Azman, Chief Executive Officer of Grameenphone, and Sheikh Aminur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Prime Bank FinTech Limited, alongside senior representatives from both organisations.

Under the terms of the partnership, customers will be able to access Grameenphone mobile recharge services directly through Prime Bank FinTech Limited’s MFS platform. This integration is expected to streamline transactions and improve user convenience by enabling financial and telecommunications services within a single ecosystem.

A key feature of the collaboration is the provision of selected telecom and financial services via USSD technology. This ensures accessibility for customers who do not use smartphones or lack internet connectivity, thereby extending digital financial services to underserved and rural populations. USSD-based access remains an important channel in Bangladesh, where a segment of users still rely on basic mobile devices.

Speaking at the signing, Yasir Azman stated that customer-centric service design remains central to Grameenphone’s strategy. He noted that the partnership would help integrate financial services with everyday connectivity, enabling safer and more convenient transactions regardless of device or connectivity level. He added that the initiative supports the broader goal of strengthening Bangladesh’s digital economy.

Sheikh Aminur Rahman emphasised that the collaboration would enhance the reach and functionality of the MFS ecosystem. He stated that combining the strengths of telecommunications infrastructure and fintech innovation would allow both organisations to deliver secure and inclusive financial solutions to a wider customer base.

Senior officials present from Grameenphone included Chief Product Officer Solaiman Alam; Chief Business Officer Asif Naimur Rashid; Head of Digital Business Zahiduz Zaman; Head of Prime Accounts Arvid Chowdhury; Head of Digital Retail Inzamul Haque Chowdhury; and Md Hasanul Islam. From Prime Bank FinTech Limited, attendees included Chief Commercial Officer Mohammad Mahbub Sobhan; Head of Brand and Communication Nabila Khalid; Additional General Manager Mohammad Mahmud Hassan; and Head of Technology Operation and Services Mahidul Hasan.
