Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC has inaugurated a dedicated service booth at the Hajj Camp in Ashkona, Dhaka, aimed at facilitating banking services, providing essential information, and distributing necessary items to Hajj pilgrims.
The booth was formally inaugurated on 16 April 2026 by Md. Altaf Hossain, Managing Director (Current Charge) of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, who attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Senior officials of the bank were also present at the event, including A.K.M. Mahbub Morshed, Head of Dhaka North Zone, and Md. Maznuzzaman, Executive Vice President, along with other executives and staff members of the institution. The details were confirmed in a press release issued by the bank.
According to the bank’s established practice, Islami Bank sets up such a booth annually at the Ashkona Hajj Camp to support departing pilgrims. The services offered are designed to assist Hajj participants in managing financial transactions and obtaining necessary travel-related assistance prior to departure.
The banking facilities provided at the booth include the exchange of foreign currency, specifically Saudi Riyal and United States Dollar, in return for Bangladeshi Taka. In addition, the bank issues Hajj Cards and facilitates the endorsement of Debit Cards and Khidmah (Credit) Cards. ATM-related services are also made available to support pilgrims in accessing their funds efficiently.
These banking instruments enable pilgrims to withdraw Saudi Riyals from any ATM booth displaying the Visa logo within Saudi Arabia, thereby ensuring financial accessibility during their stay for Hajj.
Alongside financial services, Islami Bank also distributes various items to assist pilgrims during their journey. These include umbrellas, handbags, shoe bags, and special bags intended for collecting stones used during the ritual at Mina. The bank also provides informational leaflets containing guidance on Hajj procedures, rules, and relevant instructions to help pilgrims perform their religious duties in an organised manner.
The services offered at the booth can be summarised as follows:
| Category | Services Provided |
|---|---|
| Currency Exchange | Saudi Riyal and US Dollar in exchange for Bangladeshi Taka |

The initiative is intended to streamline pre-departure arrangements for pilgrims and ensure access to essential financial and logistical support at a central location prior to travel.
