Islami Bank Unveils Khidmah Credit Card

Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC has introduced a UnionPay International branded Khidmah Credit Card, marking a significant expansion of its international payment services. The card was formally launched on Tuesday at the Islami Bank Tower in Dhaka, according to an official press release.

The new card, issued in partnership with UnionPay International, is designed to facilitate seamless financial transactions for customers travelling abroad, particularly to China for tourism, higher education, and medical treatment. Cardholders will be able to settle tuition fees, hospital bills, retail purchases, and other expenses using QR codes and point-of-sale terminals. They may also withdraw cash from automated teller machines within the UnionPay network.

UnionPay International, a leading global card scheme headquartered in Shanghai, is accepted in approximately 183 countries and regions. Through the required foreign currency endorsement process, Khidmah Credit Card users will be able to transact internationally in compliance with Bangladesh Bank regulations.

The launch ceremony was attended by senior executives from both institutions. Md. Omar Faruk Khan, Managing Director of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, presided as chief guest. Cai Huiming, Head of the South East Asian Branch of UnionPay International, joined as special guest, underlining the strategic importance of the collaboration in strengthening financial connectivity between Bangladesh and China.

Engineer Mohammad Jamal Uddin Mazumder, Additional Managing Director of the bank, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the institution’s commitment to customer-centric innovation. Masud Raihan, Country Manager of UnionPay International, outlined the card’s key features and global acceptance network. Other senior officials present included Dr. M Kamal Uddin Jasim, Additional Managing Director; Md Rafiqul Islam and Md Maksudur Rahman, Deputy Managing Directors; and Md Mosharraf Hossain, Head of the Digital Banking Wing.
