Krungthai Bank has announced that its Travel UnionPay Debit Card will be temporarily unavailable on 11 November 2025 due to scheduled system maintenance.
The bank stated that during this maintenance window, the Travel UnionPay Debit Card will not be usable across any international channels, including domestic EDC terminals and e-commerce platforms. This disruption will affect transactions with overseas merchants such as Alipay, WeChat, Didi, Apple Store, Agoda, Trip.com, AirAsia, and others.
However, Krungthai assured customers that all other banking services will remain fully operational during the maintenance period.
The announcement was made through the bank’s official online channels on 4 November 2025.
During the maintenance window, the Travel UnionPay Debit Card will not be usable for any international transactions, including purchases through overseas e-commerce platforms and domestic electronic data capture (EDC) terminals linked to international channels. Affected merchants include widely used platforms such as Alipay, WeChat, Didi, Apple Store, Agoda, Trip.com, AirAsia, and other global service providers. Customers relying on the card for international payments will need to plan accordingly and consider alternative payment methods during this period.
Krungthai Bank emphasized that all other banking services, including domestic accounts, ATM withdrawals, mobile banking, and standard debit card transactions, will remain fully operational during the maintenance. This ensures that customers’ day-to-day banking activities within Thailand are not disrupted.
The announcement was formally made through the bank’s official online channels on 4 November 2025. Bank officials urged cardholders to take note of the temporary suspension to avoid inconvenience, particularly those with planned travel or international purchases around the specified date.
System maintenance is a routine procedure for financial institutions to update backend infrastructure, enhance security protocols, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. By temporarily suspending card access, Krungthai Bank aims to prevent potential transaction errors or system downtime during the upgrade, maintaining a reliable service experience for customers in the long term.
Travelers are encouraged to use other debit or credit cards during this period or rely on cash and digital wallets for international transactions. The bank also reminded customers to check for alternative payment options with online merchants and airlines to avoid disruption.
Krungthai Bank has a long-standing record of proactive communication regarding system updates and service maintenance. Notifications through official channels ensure that customers are informed well in advance and can take necessary measures to minimize inconvenience.
By scheduling this maintenance, Krungthai demonstrates its commitment to secure and efficient banking services. While temporary service interruptions can be inconvenient, they are essential for upgrading infrastructure, improving transaction speed, and ensuring high levels of reliability for both domestic and international payments.
