Meanwhile, the suspension on the increased fees of Chattogram Port has been lifted, putting an end to a prolonged obstacle. The chamber judge of the Supreme Court withdrew the stay order last Tuesday. On Sunday, the port authority issued a circular instructing officials to collect fees according to the revised rates.

Earlier, on 9 November, the High Court had suspended the fee increase for one month following a writ petition from the Bangladesh Maritime Law Society. However, after a leave-to-appeal request by the shipping ministry, Justice Farah Mahbub revoked the suspension.
