NCC Bank recently organised a mental health awareness workshop titled “Mind Matters: Workplace Mental Health Talk for Women” for its female employees at its Head Office, according to a press release. The initiative forms part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to promote an inclusive, supportive and healthy working environment.
The session was conducted by Dr Nasim Jahan, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at BIRDEM General Hospital and Ibrahim Medical College. In her presentation, she addressed key aspects of workplace mental health, with emphasis on stress management, emotional resilience, and maintaining a balanced professional and personal life. The discussion also highlighted how workplace pressures can be better managed through awareness, structured coping strategies and early recognition of psychological strain.
Participants were introduced to internationally recognised mental health assessment instruments, including the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ). These tools are widely used for the screening and self-assessment of mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety and stress, enabling individuals and organisations to identify early signs and take appropriate supportive measures.
The workshop was moderated by Nighat Mumtaz, Executive Vice President and Head of Sustainable and Women’s Banking at NCC Bank. She underscored the importance of integrating mental health awareness into workplace practices, particularly in the context of evolving organisational demands and employee wellbeing priorities.
A total of 142 women officials participated in the session physically at the Head Office, while female employees from branches across the country joined virtually through digital platforms. The hybrid participation format allowed broader engagement and ensured inclusion of staff from multiple locations.
Participants reportedly appreciated the initiative, describing it as timely and relevant to contemporary workplace challenges. The programme reflects NCC Bank’s continued focus on employee wellbeing and its efforts to encourage awareness of mental health issues across the organisation.
