NRB Bank PLC has entered into an agreement with Oracle Financial Services Software (OFSS) and its local implementation partner Data Edge Limited to upgrade its core banking platform to Oracle FLEXCUBE UBS Version 14.8.
According to a media release, this is the first implementation of FLEXCUBE UBS 14.8 in Bangladesh. The initiative forms part of NRB Bank’s broader strategy to enhance its digital banking capabilities and modernise its technology infrastructure in response to evolving customer expectations and industry requirements.
The agreement was formally signed at a ceremony held in Dhaka. NRB Bank Managing Director Tarek Reaz Khan and Data Edge Limited Chairman Noor Alam Chowdhury exchanged the documents on behalf of their respective organisations.
Senior officials from both sides attended the event. Representing NRB Bank were Deputy Managing Directors Md Shaheen Howlader, Anwar Uddin, and M. Rashidul Huda. Data Edge Limited was represented by Managing Director Asifuzzaman and Chief Business Officer Asim Talukdar. Representatives from OFSS, including K Rajesh Kumar, Saujato Guin and Satish Krishnamoorthy, were also present.
Speaking at the ceremony, Tarek Reaz Khan stated: “This initiative reflects NRB Bank’s commitment to digital transformation and our dedication to meeting the growing expectations of our valued customers.”
Noor Alam Chowdhury added: “We are fully committed to ensuring the successful and timely implementation of this project, and confident it will deliver tremendous value for NRB Bank and its customers.”
Core banking systems such as Oracle FLEXCUBE are widely used by financial institutions to manage daily banking operations, including account management, transaction processing, and regulatory compliance. Upgrading to a newer version typically enables enhanced system performance, improved security features, and greater scalability, supporting banks in delivering more efficient and reliable services.
