Prime Bank Launches Open Agricultural Loan Programme Hatibandha

Prime Bank PLC recently hosted an Open Agricultural Loan Disbursement Programme at the Hatibandha Upazila Dakbangla Field in Lalmonirhat, underscoring its continued commitment to fostering sustainable agricultural development and empowering local farmers.

During the event, loan cheques were formally handed over to 288 farmers, reflecting the bank’s proactive efforts to provide accessible financial support directly at the grassroots level, according to an official media release. The initiative forms part of Prime Bank’s broader strategy to enhance agricultural productivity, strengthen farm management practices, and improve the overall financial resilience of rural farming communities.

In recognition of exemplary loan utilisation and timely repayment, five farmers received commemorative crests, celebrating their dedication and responsible financial management. Such acknowledgements serve not only to reward diligence but also to encourage a culture of financial discipline among the wider farming population.

Prime Bank has introduced a suite of tailored agricultural loan products, including Abad, Khamar, and Nabanna, designed to meet the diverse credit needs of farmers at different scales of operation. These products aim to facilitate investment in modern farming techniques, high-yield crop varieties, and sustainable agricultural practices, ensuring that farmers can maximise their productivity while maintaining economic stability.

In addition, the bank is offering low-interest loans under favourable terms to promote the cultivation of import-substitute crops. By encouraging local production, Prime Bank seeks to reduce the nation’s dependency on imports and support Bangladesh’s broader economic self-reliance.

The programme was attended by prominent local and national dignitaries, including Hatibandha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rantu Poddar, Upazila Agriculture Officer Nur Islam, and Nazmul H. Farajee, Senior Manager of Nourish Poultry & Hathary Ltd. From Prime Bank, senior officials present included Mamur Ahmed, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Branch Distribution, and Shahana Parvin, Senior Vice President and Head of Agri Business, alongside other key representatives of the bank. Their presence highlighted the institution’s dedication to bridging the gap between financial services and rural agricultural development.

Through initiatives such as this, Prime Bank continues to play a pivotal role in driving rural economic growth, supporting farmers’ livelihoods, and reinforcing Bangladesh’s agricultural sector as a cornerstone of national development.
