SBAC Bank Holds Women Entrepreneurs Workshop

SBAC Bank PLC has organised a day-long workshop on financial management aimed at strengthening the capabilities of women entrepreneurs operating in the CMSME sector, under the supervision of Bangladesh Bank. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to improve financial literacy and managerial competence among small and medium enterprise owners, particularly women-led businesses.

The workshop took place on Sunday, 19 April 2026, at the Shrimp Research Center of the Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute in Bagerhat. It brought together entrepreneurs, banking professionals, and regulatory representatives for a focused exchange on financial practices and business sustainability.

Md. Rokanuzzaman, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank’s Khulna Office, attended the programme as the chief guest. He underscored the importance of equipping women entrepreneurs with sound financial knowledge to ensure the sustainability and scalability of their enterprises. S. M. Kamaluzzaman Kamal, Director (Inspection) at Bangladesh Bank, Khulna, joined as the special guest and highlighted the role of regulatory support in fostering inclusive economic growth.

The technical session was led by Riazul Islam, Additional Director of the SME and Special Programmes Department at Bangladesh Bank, Khulna. He delivered detailed guidance on financial management practices, including credit utilisation, risk assessment, and maintaining financial discipline—key areas considered essential for CMSME development.

The workshop was presided over by S. M. Mainul Kabir, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SBAC Bank PLC. In his remarks, he reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs through targeted financial products, advisory services, and capacity-building initiatives.

Senior executives from SBAC Bank also attended, including Md. Mofazzal Mamun Khan, Chief Technology Officer and Senior Executive Vice President; Md. Rashed Akter, Head of Retail Distribution Division and SEVP; and Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Head of Credit Risk Management Division and Executive Vice President. They were joined by branch managers, credit in-charges from the Khulna region, and a diverse group of women entrepreneurs.

The workshop facilitated direct interaction between bankers and entrepreneurs, enabling participants to better understand financing opportunities and compliance requirements. Such initiatives are aligned with Bangladesh Bank’s broader policy framework, which emphasises inclusive financing and the development of the CMSME sector as a driver of economic growth.
