Sekander-E-Azam Appointed as Deputy Managing Director of Southeast Bank

Southeast Bank PLC has announced the appointment of Mohammad Sekander-E-Azam as its new Deputy Managing Director (DMD), effective from Thursday, according to an official statement released by the bank. This strategic appointment comes as Southeast Bank aims to strengthen its leadership team and drive further growth within the competitive banking sector.

Mr Sekander brings with him over two decades of extensive experience in banking and financial services, with a proven track record in management, branch operations, and business development. Prior to joining Southeast Bank, he served as Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Branch Distribution Channels at United Commercial Bank (UCB), where he was instrumental in streamlining branch operations and enhancing customer engagement.

His career in banking began in 1998 at Eastern Bank PLC as a Senior Officer. Over the years, he has also held key positions at BRAC Bank PLC and United Commercial Bank PLC, acquiring a comprehensive understanding of the banking industry and honing his expertise in operational management, strategic planning, and digital banking transformation.

Southeast Bank’s management highlighted that Mr Sekander’s appointment is expected to play a pivotal role in realising the bank’s vision for growth and innovation. “His diverse experience and leadership capabilities will be a major asset as we continue to expand our services and strengthen our market presence,” the bank’s press release noted.

Mr Sekander possesses a strong academic foundation, combining commerce and technology studies. He holds both a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and a Master of Commerce (MCom) degree from the University of Dhaka, specialising in management. Additionally, he earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computing and Information Systems from London Guildhall University, equipping him with a unique blend of financial acumen and technological insight.
