UCB Launches Unified Digital Platform

United Commercial Bank PLC has introduced a new integrated digital banking ecosystem named “UCB One”, marking a significant step towards a unified, mobile-first financial services model in Bangladesh. The platform is designed to bring together everyday banking functions and lifestyle services within a single application, enabling customers to manage a wide range of financial and non-financial activities seamlessly.

The official launch ceremony was held at the Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka, attended by senior policymakers, regulators, and leaders from the financial sector. Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Adviser to the Government on Finance and Planning Affairs, emphasised that modernising the financial sector through advanced technology is essential for building an inclusive economy. He noted that broader digital integration will enhance transparency, reduce inefficiencies, and expand access to financial services for citizens across all segments of society.

UCB Chairman Sharif Zahir highlighted the bank’s recent progress, attributing its achievements to improved governance standards, enhanced transparency, and a sustained focus on institutional development. He reiterated that the expansion of cashless transactions remains a core strategic objective, adding that digital banking is expected to become the backbone of future financial systems.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid described UCB One as more than a conventional banking application. According to him, the platform represents a comprehensive digital ecosystem tailored to the evolving needs of technology-oriented customers, particularly younger demographics. He stressed that the initiative would play a pivotal role in accelerating the transition towards a cashless economy.

Additional details of the platform were presented by Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, who explained that existing services will gradually be integrated into the new system. This consolidation is expected to enable customers to access multiple services through a single interface, significantly improving convenience and operational efficiency.
