NexusPay Reaches Millions Quietly

The mobile application ‘NexusPay’, developed by Dutch-Bangla Bank, has established a strong position in Bangladesh’s efforts to promote cashless transactions and reduce reliance on physical currency. Without significant publicity, the platform has expanded its reach to nearly ten million users. In addition to customers of Dutch-Bangla Bank and its mobile banking service Rocket, users from other banks are also utilising the application, making NexusPay a widely accessible digital transaction platform.

According to a report by the bank, total transactions conducted through NexusPay reached Tk 237,572 crore in 2025. Both the number of users and the volume of transactions have been increasing steadily. Among the user base, 84 per cent are male and 16 per cent female. The application can be accessed via mobile devices, laptops, or desktop computers, enabling users to carry out transactions at any time.

Managing Director Ehteshamul Haque Khan stated that NexusPay initially launched with limited features, but has gradually incorporated additional functionalities over time. He noted that the platform now facilitates transactions exceeding Tk 20,000 crore per month. He further stated that the long-term objective is to make NexusPay a central hub for all types of financial transactions, allowing customers to complete most banking activities without visiting physical branches.

Registration and Features

To use NexusPay, users must download the application from official app stores and complete registration using a mobile number verified through a one-time password (OTP). After setting a six-digit PIN and providing basic information, users can link their debit card, Rocket account, or Visa/Mastercard.

Once activated, users can check account balances and conduct transactions directly from the dashboard. The application also includes features such as virtual loyalty points cards, which offer discounts and cashback on purchases. Additional services include mobile recharge and utility bill payments.

Dutch-Bangla Bank customers can transfer funds to accounts in other banks through the platform. However, this specific feature is currently limited for users linking cards from other banks, although services such as payments and purchases remain accessible to all users.

Overall, NexusPay has developed into a significant component of Bangladesh’s digital financial ecosystem, supported by consistent growth in both users and transaction volumes.
