It was incorporated in 2013 as a banking company under the Companies Act, of 1994 and is regulated under the Banking Companies Act, of 1991. The bank has a network of 84 branches and 21 sub-branches around the country.

South Bangla Agriculture and Commerce Bank Limited started its operation on April 28, 2013, obtaining a license from Bangladesh Bank.

SBAC has a board of 18 members headed by Abdul Kadir Molla as chairman. Al-Haj Mizanur Rahman acts as vice-chairman of the board of directors. Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has been working as managing director and CEO of the banks since 2021.
