Jubilee Banks is one of the oldest commercial banks in Bangladesh.

Jubilee Bank Limited is one of the oldest commercial banks in Bangladesh. Jubilee-Bank Limited has been doing banking business in Bangladesh for more than 100 years. It is one of the top five banks in the country. Jubilee-Bank was established on 15 April 1913 at Janipur in Khoksa Upazila of Kushtia district.

The bank got its license from Bangladesh Bank in 1986. In 1986, it was transformed into a commercial bank. It has been operating as a cooperative bank for 60 years since its inception. The institution was once allowed to do banking as a non-scheduled bank. Even before independence, this old institution used to do banking.

History of Jubilee Bank

Jubilee-Bank was founded in 1913 in Khoksa, Kushtia. In 1988 the bank with permission from Bangladesh Bank was transformed into a commercial bank. The bank gained some notoriety for having shares owned by Colonel Khandaker Abdur Rashid, Colonel Syed Farooq Rahman, and Major Bazlul Huda. They were the convicted assassins of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, President of Bangladesh.

On 27 December 2020, Bangladesh Bank removed the Chairperson of the bank, Md. Shah Alam, and also dissolved the working committee of the bank. Following a High Court verdict, Bangladesh Bank started taking steps to liquidate Jubilee-Bank.
